Crane Training
CITB Crane Training Becoming a crane driver is the goal for many site workers because its often the highest paid job on the construction site. But with that comes a lot of responsibility and that's why training is so important. Holding the right CITB card is an essential requirement for any crane driver on any large construction site in the UK. A government body, the CITB run the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) which is a card scheme to demonstrate the crane operating skills and health and safety awareness of the holder. To get the card you need to find an approved CITB training provider in your area that provides crane operator training courses. Crane operator training might typically be held over a ten day period depending upon experience. Training will include sections on working as a team with the banksman, slinger, signaller and Appointed Person for each lifting operation. Crane driver training also includes positioning of the crane, rigging, derigging, following signals, inspection, maintenance and safety procedures. On successful completion of the crane training course, operators will receive the CPCS card and logbook, essential for all trainee crane drivers. |
