The decision to buy a crane represents a major investment in plant. Its important to remember that the investment must provide a good return.

In short, there must be sufficient useful and necessary work for the crane to actually perform to justify the initial outlay. Otherwise a more cost effective alternative might be crane hire, the use of a crane contractor or perhaps to lease a crane.

There are several large firms that specialize in crane sales. Bear in mind before any purchase that storage and transportation costs for a crane will be high, not to mention insurance.

Employing a crane contractor or indeed hiring a crane eliminates these costs in return for a known fixed daily, weekly or monthly rate.
